/Summary

This project involved the design of a small garden room extension to a modern house on a housing estate in the Newark area.   The client’s brief required a space that was light and airy, internally contemporary in feel and enjoyed good interaction with the surrounding garden.   The practice designed the single storey extension with as much glazing as possible whilst keeping a strong link between the external materials used the construction of the existing house.   The construction is timber frame clad with brick, this form of construction being chosen to allow superior integration of the large glazed areas required.   The practice was responsible for the design of the building from inception through to completion of the Building Regulations application.
